Rene Cota serves as a University of La Verne SBDC Business Advisor focusing on government contracting opportunities to help local small businesses. Mr. Cota is a USMC combat veteran who served as an infantry platoon leader in Iraq.
When Mr. Cota is not helping clients through the SBDC program, he is the president of CMG Alliance. CMG Alliance is a management consulting firm specializing in government acquisitions, where Mr. Cota has advised numerous clients to successfully bid and win contracts with federal, state and local government, utilities and major corporations.
Rene is a certified management specialist with over 15 years’ experience as a contract negotiator. His experience covers negotiations with government agencies and small to large business in the areas of contracting and has testified as an expert in federal and state courts in the area of policy and statute compliance.
Mr. Cota is well connected to the procurement arena and has developed training and small business programs for PTAC (Riverside Ca.), PTAC (Los Angeles Ca.), Southern California Edison (VETS Program), LA Metropolitan Transportation Authority (DVBE Program, Mentor Protégé Program and Metro Academy) and the Department of Labor (Veterans Economic Outreach Program).
